A Study on Video Streaming Quality of DASH Scheme in Multimedia Services

Abstract

In data communication networks and the Internet, there is a growing need for more transmission resources due to the massive and increasing consumption of video transmission services. An alternative to reduce this requirement is the application of video coding such as MPEG-DASH. In this study, an evaluation of the performance of the DASH mechanism over streaming video is performed. For this, the structural similarity index is used, a WAN distribution scenario is implemented through the WANem platform and the procedure is validated with a quality of experience (QoE) evaluation model. The results obtained show a high efficiency of DASH coding in video transmission.
