Abstract

The Burmanniaceae are recognized in Peru with eight genera and 16 species (Brako & Zarucchi, 1993), mainly herbaceous saprophytes. Here we recognize one endemic species in the genus Burmannia with a broad ecological tolerance that allows it to occur on the western Andean dry slopes, in interandean valleys and in paramos and humid montane forests, between 1200 and 4100 m elevation. The species has been registered in one protected area.
