Abstract

We described six newborns hospitalized with Vibrio cholerae 01 infection, four serotype Inaba and two serotype Ogawa. Five of the six cases had the characteristic aqueous (watery) diarrhea. In epidemic areas a risk history with bottle formula feeding (with unboiled water) and/or household contacts are indicators for further evaluation in search for cholera in this age group.
