The essential oil from leaves and twigs of Luma chequen from Peru, obtained by steam distillation, was analysed by a combination of GC-FID, GC-MS and 13C-NMR. Forty constituents (93.6% of the total sample) were identified. Monoterpenes constituted the main fraction (87.7%), the major ones being α-pinene (57.3%) and 1,8-cineole (7.5%), whereas sesquiterpenes only reached 2.9% of the sample analysed.
