Abstract

The knowledge of the composition of the follicular fluid is needed as an indicative of certain nutritional necessities of the oocite, that which would help to the formulation of culture media for gametes; the objectives of the present work were to determine the quantity of total proteins, albumin, glucose, total lípids and cholesterols of secondary and tertiary follicles fluids. The samples were collected at slaughter of alpacas, and frozen. The composition was determined by means of the espectrofotometric techniques. The results indicate the following quantities: total protein (g/dl) 8.26 and 7.26; albumin (g/dl) 4.75 and 5.29; glucose (g/ l) 3.56 and 3.31; total lipids (g/l) 0.3815 and 0.2775; cholesterol (g/dl) 0.1039 and 0.09375 in secondary (<7 mm) and tertiary (>7 mm) follicles respectively. These results indicate that the fluid of secondary follicles can also be used in the enrichment of culture media for gametes in this species.
