Abstract

Members of this family were treated in the Tribe Bolbitideae of the Dryopteridaceae (Tryon & Stolze, 1991). Undoubtedly, the family Lomariopsidaceae is one of the most speciose in Peru with three genera and more than 140 species (Tryon & Stolze, 1993; Smith et al., 2005). Twenty-six species in one genus are recognized as endemics, occurring in a wide range of altitudes and environments. Twenty-three of those endemic species occur mainly in forests of the Humid Montane, and Premontane Forests, between 400 and 3500 m elevation; while another five endemics are found in the Mesoandean and Dry and Humid Puna regions, between 3000 and 3950 m elevation. Thirteen species are found in seven of the protected areas.
