Seroprevalence of antibodies against chlamydophila abortus in sheep of SAIS tÚPAC AMARU of the department of junín, perú

© 2018 Veterinary Organization. All right reserved. Chlamydophila abortus is a bacterium that causes enzootic abortion in sheep. The objective of the study was to determine the seroprevalence of antibodies against C. abortus in sheep of SAIS Túpac Amaru, located in Junín, Peru. We analyzed 938 serum samples of sheep of different sex, age, class and reproductive status, through an indirect enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). 21.5% (202/938) were seropositive. There was a significant association (p <0.05) between the female sex and the positivity of the test, and in relation to age, class and reproductive status, there was no significant association (p> 0.05). The results indicate that there is presence of C. abortus in the sheep of SAIS Tupac Amaru.
