Resumen
This research work is based on a sample of 53 engineering students from a public university in Lima-Peru, and aims to analyze the correlations between academic self-efficacy and the four components of engagement (behavioral, emotional, cognitive and agentic). The results revealed that only three of these components (behavioral, emotional and cognitive) maintain a positive and significant relationship with academic self-efficacy. Therefore, it is concluded that, unlike studies conducted based on other samples, participation in class (or agentic component) does not necessarily ensure academic self-efficacy in engineering students.
